FAQs
Anocoil plates are manufactured from coils of aluminum that are grained, anodized and coated with image sensitive coatings in various wave-lengths before the material is converted into specific plate sizes and packaged.
Complaints:
All of our analog and digital products are laser inspected and we make every attempt to deliver the highest quality products to the market. In the event of a performance problem our technical personnel are available to assist in trouble-shooting and resolving your concerns. Traditionally we require representative samples of the performance problem, so we can properly resolve the concern. All material is marked with the appropriate package ID numbers. Anocoil ships all material with package ID numbers listed on the skid and the individual packages. We also maintain a full library of retain samples that can be compared to the samples you will forward us for review. Make note of the ID number as seen in this photo.

Contact your inside sales representative to advise us of your technical concern and obtain a complaint # so we can track your representative samples through our quality inspection system. If possible, it is recommended that you provide a plate out of the package, one that has been imaged and processed and one off press with the appropriate tear sheets or printed sample.
Samples along with your complaint and package ID numbers should be forwarded to the attention of your inside sales representative at the following address:

Analog Products (12 month shelf-life from the date of manufacturing)
The Waterworks Plate System
Exposure: Our traditional recommendation for exposure is a solid 4 / scummy 5 on a UGRA scale or a solid 5 / scummy 6 with a 21 step stouffer scale.
Processing: Anocoil chemistry is recommended to achieve the best result. We offer two developer options (Type S & X3) dependent on the machine method of operation and our standard C4 Plate Finisher for gumming.
- Type S Developer - for straight path/platen development
- Type X3 Developer - for dip tank development
The following development guidelines are offered:
- Develop plates at 4 feet per minute - 30 second dwell time
- Developer temperature should be 78 degrees Fahrenheit
- A rinse station in the processor is recommended
- Projected mileage between processor cleanings - 16-20,000 sq ft
- Filter changes every 4000 ft2
- Replenishment rate 3-7 cc's per ft2
Thermal Products (6 month shelf-life from the date of manufacturing)
830T Positive Thermal
Imaging: The 830T plate is certified on Screen, Kodak and Luscher thermal plate setters for 830 nanometer imaging. The 830T plate requires 110 mj per sq/cm for imaging and is a non-ablative technology.
Processing: The 830T plate can be processed in most conventional CTP processors that utilize brush development. The T9 developer & R9/RLV replenishment system is recommended to achieve the best performance results.
The following development guidelines are offered:
- Develop plates at 22-24 second dwell time
- Developer temperature should be at 24-26 Celsius
- A rinse station in the processor is recommended
- Projected chemistry mileage 16-20,000 sq ft between cleanings
- Filter changes every 2000 ft2
- Replenishment rate - 45-80 cc's per hour (dependent on the processor in use)
N-100 Negative Thermal
Imaging: The N-100 plate is certified on all 830 nanometer imaging devices and requires 95 mj per sq/cm for imaging and is a non-ablative technology.
Processing: The processing step requires a pre-heat step, which is at a lower temperature level (95-105c/195-210F) then most competitive products. This saves energy and reduces cost while eliminating un-pleasant odor in the plate making operation. The developing chemistry for the N-100 plate system was designed to be environmentally friendly utilizing neutral (6.8-7.2) pH chemistry that does not require replenishment to maintain the pH activity of the bath. This significantly reduces the amount of chemistry used and eliminates the need for waste neutralization. Anocoil recommends the use of N-100 developer and TF2 Plate finisher with the N100 Plate System.
The following development guidelines are offered:
- Develop plates at 20 second dwell time
- Developer temperature should be at 85 degrees Fahrenheit
- A rinse station in the processor is recommended
- Projected chemistry mileage 16-20,000 sq ft between cleanings
- Filter changes every 2000 ft2
- Replenishment rate - 3-7 cc's per sq ft to replace drag-out only.
Testing Anocoil Plates: Anocoil is willing to provide you with test samples of our material for evaluation. With digital thermal plates, we offer the option of imaging GAFF/SNAP or a customer test file in our research center. The following Sample Request Form is required to properly introduce our products to your company:
Pre-Installation: In order to insure a smooth installation and transition to our products, we would like to learn as much as possible about your printing operation. Our goal is to provide your operation with consistent performance right out of the gate. Please provide the following information to make the introduction of our products a success in your operation. Technical Pre-Install Audit Form
Storage Conditions:
The emulsion system of analog and digital plates require proper storage conditions to protect the material and eliminate shelf-life problems. The following standards are recommended:
- Plates should be kept in the original packaging until required and stored in temperatures between 45-80 degrees Fahrenheit at a relative humidity under 50 percent.
